Amritsar Soormas win inaugural Sher-E-Punjab T20 League with eight-wicket victory

Amritsar Soormas claimed the inaugural Sher-E-Punjab T20 League title by defeating Ludhiana Lions by eight wickets in the final at IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali, on September 14.

Chasing a target of 143, Amritsar Soormas reached 144 for 2 in 16.4 overs to secure a commanding win. Sahaj Dhawan anchored the innings, finishing unbeaten on 63 from 53 balls. Captain Naman Dhir contributed a rapid 29 runs off 12 deliveries, including four sixes, while Rahul Kumar remained not out on 42 from 30 balls to ensure victory with 20 balls to spare.

In response, Ludhiana Lions were limited to 142 runs in their 20 overs, with the Amritsar bowling attack performing strongly. Mayank Markande was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 17 runs, earning him the Player of the Match award.

The championship capped a remarkable tournament for Naman Dhir, who was named Player of the Series. Dhir was one of the competition’s most dominant batsmen, scoring an outstanding 173 runs off 64 balls during the league stage and an essential 91 runs off 37 balls in the semi-final, guiding Amritsar Soormas into the final.

Dhir’s aggressive batting set the tone throughout the campaign, leading a high-scoring Amritsar side that combined composed batting, disciplined bowling, and consistent all-round performances to become the first-ever champions of the Sher-E-Punjab T20 League.
