Shubman Gill loses his wicket to CSK’s intern bowler in his first match of Sher-e-Punjab T20 league

Kartik Chadha surprises Shubman Gill as he dismisses the India skipper in Sher-e-Punjab T20
Shubman Gill finally took the field for Fazilka Falcons in the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League on Saturday, and his first outing as captain produced fireworks with the bat before ending at the hands of one of CSK’s own. Kartik Chadha, who spent IPL 2025 as CSK’s intern bowler, dismissed the India captain for a blistering 40 off 21 balls.
Gill had been absent for the Falcons’ first four matches of the tournament, with the side losing three of them as he attended the BCCI’s performance review meeting in Mumbai. His arrival was the most anticipated moment of the league’s season so far.
The India skipper wasted no time finding his rhythm, opening the innings and striking seven fours and a six before Chadha’s leg-spin ended his cameo. The Falcons were eventually set a target they could not overcome.
Who is Kartik Chadha, the CSK intern who dismissed Shubman Gill?
Chadha is a 21-year-old right-arm leg-spinner and left-handed middle-order batter from Jalandhar, a product of CT Public School who has quietly built an impressive résumé through Punjab’s age-group system.
His numbers across domestic youth cricket are striking. During the 2021-22 Under-19 Punjab tournament, Chadha emerged as the highest wicket-taker with 36 wickets in nine matches for Jalandhar district. He represented Punjab in the BCCI’s Vijay Merchant Trophy and later topped the Senior One-Day Inter-District Tournament with 16 wickets in six matches.
